Some friends were there, closer than my biological brother, but they carried heavyweight of bad influence.
Such was not the case of Femi Kolawole. Though we weren't that close in Secondary school, but he poised as a role model to many, especially those of us in the boarding house of Loyola College, Ibadan.
Yes, I remember the visit we paid to then Honourable Commissioner of Education in Oyo State, this guy was outspoken and eloquent amongst many of us. In fact, when we were introducing ourselves one after the other, it got to him, and as the Senior Prefect (No.1 Student of the school in my set), he introduced himself this way "My name is Olufemi Kolawole, and I am a bonafide student of Loyola College".
That introduction made our teachers, Commissioner and some of his staff laugh out loud. It intimidated me in a way, because I didn't know the meaning of 'bonafide'. So, I thought Chai! this guy just made an extra mile. As a prefect also, though I can't really feel my impact on students as Chapel Prefect, but the time was for me to reposition myself for the future.
Years later, I saw this man, Femi Impact Kolawole doing well on social media, and when I got to the city where he now resides, I decided to connect with my College Senior Prefect. Proud of the man he is becoming, and he is such a focused and humble man of God. He is not a Pastor yet.
And I shouldn't forget that Loyola College Ibadan, can be referred to as the best in every way.
Up School!!! Loyola
