Talking about the need for the innovation contest, the curator of TEDxBodija, Olufemi Babalogbon, said: “It will be our joy to have home-grown innovations and valuable ideas showcased at TEDxBodija, apart from Orbi and Swap Naija.” The event organisers have earlier announced that Orbi (a mobile app for audio-tweeting) and Swap Naija (a mobile app for swapping airtime across different telecom networks in Nigeria) will be unveiled at the event. With the Innovation Contest, they have opened up an opportunity for young Nigerians to speak at the event, showcasing their ideas.
To take advantage of TEDxBodija Innovation Contest, interested applicants will have to submit entry at www.tedxbodija.com . At the website a tab for the contest will be found and an e-form interface will open up with instructions. Candidates will have to fill in details of their ideas, or innovative projects. A panel of judges consisting of entrepreneurs, business development experts and financial analysts will look into the various entries and select two winners who will have the opportunity to speak at TEDxBodija about their innovations. Entry closes on 1st of December, 2015 and finalists will be announced on 3rd December, 2015. The two winners will be announced at the event on 6th December, 2015.
The event’s theme – INNOVATION: THINKING UPSIDE DOWN – is meant to unveil counter-intuitive thinking which births innovations, disruptions and developments. The organizers believe that everything must be challenged – from textbooks to facebook; from science to arts; and from the rules of boardroom to the rules of bedroom – to achieve counter-intuitive thinking,. TEDxBodija 2015 recognizes, celebrates, and showcases the quantum thoughts of men and women who have challenged intuition, theories and power. Speakers booked for the event are: Chude Jideonwo (Red Media Africa, Lagos), Munyaradzi Gwatidzo (Astro Mobile Africa, Zimbabwe), Edmund Obilo (Splash FM, Ibadan), Timi Olagunju (2015 Mandela Washington Fellow), Sola Adewumi (Contagious128, Lagos), Adebola Olomo (Deefrent, Lagos) and David Ashaolu (Velma Solicitors, Abuja).

Registration for the event is free and it is open also via www.tedxbodija.com. Also organizers can be reached for exhibition opportunities via +2348036292636.
